The Visual Printmakers Association of Nigeria (VPAN), will
display massive collection of print artworks on Saturday, October 28 at
Quintessence Gallery, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The inaugural exhibition titled First Rhythm will
feature works by Prof Bruce Onobrakpeya, Associate Professor Salubi Onakufe, Dr
Kunle Adeyemi, Omoh Sophia Igbinovia, Timipre Willis-Amah, Aladegbongbe
Aderinsoye, Mike Omoighe, Juliet Ezenwa Maja-Pearce, Moses Unokwa, Ojo Olaniyi,
Bode Olaniran, Pius Emokpo, Inyang Effiong and a host of other great artists.
“There is the desire to place printmaking more formerly in the public
eye to increase the collections in homes and permanent archives. There is also
the desire to make a lasting impression in the promotion of new developments in
printmaking. The printmaking techniques, the experimental and contemporary
approach have become matters for public discussion,” said Moses Ohiomokhare,
the gallery manager.
“It is a rare opportunity for the best of Nigerian printmakers to gather
under one roof to share, practice, learn from each other and exhibit. This is
the beginning of an adventure and Quintessence is happy to jump start this
journey. We trust that their works will be well received by critics, art lovers
and collectors. It is indeed a must-see exhibition that runs for three weeks.
