This
work and others will be on view at the Ano Gallery (Friday March 16), Berj
Gallery (Tuesday March 20) and Artists Alliance Gallery (Thursday March 22), in
Accra, Ghana.
Kudowor
is one of Ghana's most respected and applauded contemporary artists. He studied
at the College of Art, University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He
graduated in 1981 with a first class honours degree in fine art.
Born in
1957 in Takoradi, Ghana, Wisdom ‘Wiz’ Kudowor’s painting career spans over 30
years. His bold paintings reference the traditional forms and symbols of
Ghana’s rich cultural history, while also drawing inspiration from cubist and
futurist styles.

His public
commissions include a relief mural at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra,
Ghana. He has exhibited widely across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the US. His
works can be found in a number of international collections including the
Ministry of Culture, People’s Republic of China; the African American Museum,
Texas, USA; Ghana National Museum, Accra, Ghana; and the Osaka Prefecture
Contemporary Art Collection, Osaka, Japan.
